I wondered why this book stayed atop the Best-Seller lists for so long, and now I know. It’s fascinating! It’s a riot! It’s lively, compelling and exciting reading. It’s called a work of fiction, but it is surely based on uncomfortable fact.

Race still matters in America, and looking at how race worked (or didn’t) in the past can inform what still needs to be done in the present and future to improve race relations.

Filled with life and deviltry, realism and hope, and the confidence that good will eventially win out — sometimes in surprising ways — this is a book that both enlightens and rewards.

Critical review:

I’ve went over the book; yes Meyers does a great job in being descriptive and adding so many details.

But I feel that this book is too superficial, there is ABSOLUTELY NO RESOLVE, there’s nothing that seems to repair the relationship of Bella and her parents; it shows that it’s okay to treat your parents like crap.

And the fact that the book doesn’t have any time where Bella is empowered by her own self confidence, the belief of herself; she relies on Jacob or Edward for that sense of “protection”.

There are so many books that need to be read, I just don’t think I’d recommend this to any kids I know.

The majority that liked this book were giddy high school girls whose fantasies are coming into fruition with this novel. Twilight is a high school girl’s dream come true.

But the truth is; I wouldn’t allow a person like Edward near my children in the sense that they wouldn’t know how to appropriate their actions around people….it’s very creepy.

It’s amazing to me the garbage you can put in a book and people come along like lemmings and buy it. Amazing. I really need to write a book of my own.

The author is a liberal nut. He may also be a genius to make so much money off of such ridiculous jibber-jabber.

If you really want to have a “conversation with God”, just pick up a bible somewhere and read it. You probably already have a bible in your house so you won’t even have to buy anything.

If you want a fictional and entertaining “conversation with God”, rent the movie “Oh God” and enjoy the entertainment.

This book is garbage.
Friends in High Places

A fan of Craig David’s will really appreciate this performance that is available on DVD. Music in High Places was a short lived MTV/MTV2 series where popular artists were taken out of their element and performed their songs. Craig David performed all of his songs acoustic with only his guitarist along. It’s a pretty good DVD for the price. It is what it is and if you want to hear Craig singing the songs and can do without the rhythmic beats of the tracks you will dig it. Think of it as an unplugged performance with good scenery.
