I bought this stool for my husband for Christmas, we had looked at one at Sears for quite a bit more money. This fit the bill and he is very happy with it. It came on time and all the pieces were with it.

I just read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. The immensely popular young adult fictional story of love, tenderness & vampires in a place called Forks. With its’ popularity legendary in the book world, with over 42 million copies in the series sold worldwide, I bought a copy of Twilight hoping that I wouldn’t be disappointed – and I wasn’t! Remember your first crush? That feeling inside when just the sight of him would make you light headed? Well that’s what Edward does to Bella! He is just too gorgeous, too perfect and unbelievably talented in ways that just seem a bit too… inhuman? As they encounter each other in school he seems to loathe her. She can’t believe she’s done anything to offend him in the short time she’s been in Forks – (she’s the new girl in school) but we find out soon that what seems to be loathing is really Edward trying to control his desires… you see he’s a vampire, but a good kind of vampire, who is unbelievably attracted to Bella. (you’ll have to read the book to find out more – I don’t want to spoil anything!) And soon the story turns magical. It’s first love for both of them and we are the hidden chaperon as they explore getting to know one another. But it’s not all love & kisses here – there are complications in a relationship between a vampire and a human. With all that superhuman strength and blood lust, Edward has to have quite a bit of control. And if that weren’t enough to deal with, as well as the struggles of being a typical teenager day to day, there is a dangerous adventure Bella is about to be swept up into…

Twilight is well written and enjoyable! Bella seems very real and believable. She is a typical 17 year old! Not really a teenager anymore, but not quite an adult. Dealing with her divorced parents and moving to Forks, Washington to live with her dad is just the start of Bella’s story. Pick this book up and be enchanted by Bella & Edward yourself!

About Optical Network and Design

I work for a switch fabric semiconductor company. I wanted to gain a better understanding of the types of systems that our components would be used in, specifically relating to IP-over-SONET traffic, MSPPs and ring protection mechanisms. This book fit the bill quite nicely. It covers the basics of fiber optic technology, including DWDM. The treatment of SONET and SDH is very thorough, with good illustrations included. The last part of the book deals specifically with the provisioning and applications of various Cisco ONSs. I found the Network Case Studies in the last chapter to be very informative, as it helps reinforce the material and demonstrate how it can be applied to a real-world network.

I give the review 4 stars, for a couple reasons. First, having experience as a designer of fiber optic transponder modules, I felt that the treatment of fiber optic technologies and DWDM in chapters 3 and 4 was a little on the light side. Some of the important concepts, such as chromatic dispersion, are treated in somewhat vague terms and could be explained more fully, without getting too technical. For a better understanding of such concepts, I recommend “Understanding Fiber Optics” by Hecht.

Also, there are numerous small errors in the book that may lead to misunderstanding of the material. Some errors look like simple typos, and others are technical errors. They are too numerous to list here, but hopefully an errata or second revision will be published to correct these. For example, in the unidirectional and bidirectional rings shown in figures 5-36 through 5-38, the east and west traffic directions are swapped. This may cause confusion when attempting to trace the traffic flow in the diagrams, as described in the text (which is correct).
Figure 5-22 shows a diagram of an Add/Drop Mux, but the text describes it as a Terminal Mux. granted, these are small problems, but may cause confusion for some, nonetheless.

All in all, this is a very good book and I highly recommend

This product is fantastic. I absolutely love it. Easy to use and books are reasonable. I don’t have to run to the library or clutter my house with books. You can set the font large so I don’t have to wear glasses. Totally recommend this product.

I’ve just read the first one and am off to devour the second. Despite the fact that he’s 12, Artemis Fowl is funny, smart, and encompasses all the human failings an adult story should. I especially enjoyed Butler, with his obsessive need to protect his charge and his wickedly effective and funny ways of doing it. Juliet, his sister, annoyed me but added to the overall effect of the Fowl household.

Holly Short, the fairy LEP officer kidnapped by Artemis, was far from the all-knowing fairy folk we’re used to, and in fact this story makes consistent fun of many of the old tales. Makes fun of and expands on their stories, actually, producing a new world to enjoy.

The supporting cast is generally well-rounded, if a bit stereotyped and I hope Mr. Colfer will expand on each of them. All in all, very enjoyable and I look forward to the rest of the series.
